Q: How far in advance should I schedule my photo session? How do I secure a date?

A: Depending on the time of year, sessions can book up months in advance, especially sessions on Saturdays and Sundays.  I usually book outdoor sessions shortly before sunset and book 2-3 weekday sessions per week and 3-4 weekend sessions per month. If you have limited availability or specific location requests or ideas, be sure to reach out as soon as possible. To secure a date, you'll need to make arrangements with via email or phone, sign a contract and pay a non-refundable retainer. All of these details will be discussed at time of booking.

Q: Where will my photo session take place?

A: Outdoor sessions: Weather and season permitting, your family, maternity, engagement, senior, or milestone session will take place at an outdoor location. I have plenty of gorgeous location options depending on the "look" that you're going for. If you have somewhere specific in mind, I am also open to other locations as well. I book sessions shortly before sunset and only book one session per day. Locations more than 10 miles outside of the Ballantyne area require an additional travel fee as well as any parking expenses paid. When thinking about location options, please keep in mind that some locations may require permits for professional photographers. I always maintain permits for my regular location options, but you may be responsible for extra permit fees if choosing a location outside of my list.

Studio sessions are held at my home studio. Studio sessions offer a more formal portraits, and are often where I host my limited edition sessions.

Q: What is the difference between a posed newborn session & a lifestyle newborn session?

A: All newborn sessions are typically 2-4 hours in length. Newborn sessions are never rushed due to a baby's needs, so the length of the session greatly depends on the baby. When looking at my portfolio you will see images of newborns sleeping posed in baskets and on other props.  These images are posed and typically take place in studio only.  Family and sibling portraits also take place in the studio.  These studio sessions should take pace before baby is 14 days old.

Lifestyle, or life inspired sessions are done in the comfort of your home, and may take place anytime within the first few weeks. These sessions include naturally posed shots of the baby, parent shots as well as sibling and family shots. Lifestyle newborn sessions focus more on telling a story and creating moments of connection for families. They are fun, natural and all about you and your family! Some families like to use the baby's nursery, their own room, or another special place in their home. As long as there is good natural light flowing in, I can get creative and make it work.

Please contact me for more info on newborn sessions and which type is the right fit for your family. It's best to schedule your newborn session within your 2nd or 3rd trimester so ensure availability on my calendar. I will book your session based off of your due date, and then firm up plans after the baby makes his/her debut!

Q: How long will it take to see our gallery once a session is complete?

A: A proof gallery will be sent to you via Shootproof between 3-5 business days after your session for you to select your favorite images. Once selections have been made your final gallery will be ready with in 2-4 weeks. During the busiest times of the year editing may require the full contracted time frame, but normally I edit and upload galleries as soon as possible while working quickly but carefully to edit your final images to perfection. A sneak peak will be uploaded to social media within a few days.

Q: My young kids can be difficult and don't typically handle family photos very well. Can you still help?

A: Of course!! I strive to create an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. For family sessions, this includes the kiddos! As a mom with three young kids I understand the stress that can occur on family photo day!  I handle all situations with patience and understanding, working through any difficulties to make sure we produce great images and still have fun while doing so!

Q: Do you travel outside of Ballantyne?

A: Absolutely!  Please remember that my contract states no editing or alterations are allowed to any photos including filters on Instagram or other platforms. I do ask that you tag my business page, but this is not a requirement.

Q: What happens if my session is canceled due to weather? OR the photographer becomes ill the day of the session?

A: Should Mother Nature decide that I need to reschedule the session then we will at the earliest available session time. Mother Nature happens!  Rain dates are built into my schedule to help ensure that sessions can take place quickly; however the need to reschedule due to weather is determined by Virginia Jones Photography. If I become ill the day of the session I will let you know as soon as possible, and reschedule your session at the earliest convenience.

Q: What happens if I need to cancel my scheduled session?

A: Your non-refundable deposit will be valid for one rescheduled session if you give more than 24 hours notice. After that, a new non-refundable deposit will be required to reserve any subsequent session.
